What happens

How it works

  1. Complete your intake forms.

Share your concerns, relevant health history, and goals before your appointment. We'll use this form to plan your sessions.

  2. Talk about what brings you in.

We’ll discuss your needs, explain somatic therapy, and answer your questions.

  3. Explore body awareness and regulation.

Through grounding, gentle movement, breathing, and conversation, we’ll explore how stress and emotions show up in your body and practice tools to support nervous system regulation. Your comfort sets the pace, and you can pause or decline any activity.

  4. Reflect and settle.

We’ll leave time to discuss what you noticed and help you feel ready to leave.

  5. Plan ongoing support.

Together, we’ll choose manageable practices for between sessions and discuss next steps based on your goals.

Questions people ask

  • What is somatic therapy?

Somatic therapy explores the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and physical experiences. Sessions combine conversation with body awareness and practical tools to support nervous system regulation.

  • What happens during a session?

We’ll talk about what brings you in and may explore grounding, gentle movement, breathing, or noticing sensations. Your needs and comfort guide the session.

  • Does somatic therapy involve touch?

Touch is not required. Any proposed touch would be explained beforehand and would require your explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

  • Will I have to talk about my trauma?

You choose what you share and when. We can begin with your present experiences and coping skills, and you can pause or decline any activity.

  • What if focusing on my body feels uncomfortable?

Let us know, and we’ll adjust. We may focus on your surroundings, use conversation, or try another approach that feels more manageable.

  • What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to sit and move easily.

  • How many sessions will I need?

This varies depending on your goals and needs. We’ll check in regularly about what’s helping and decide on next steps together.
